Setting Up Your Card Reader

Follow these seven steps to pair your Terminal Card Reader with theCut app and take your first payment.

  1. Step 1

    Turn on device

    The reader will beep. All four light indicators will blink once, then one light will stay lit for a few seconds. Eventually, all lights will turn off, but the device will remain on.

  2. Step 2

    Start a card reader transaction

    Once you’re ready to check out your client with the card reader, either:

    a. Select “Use card reader” as the payment option during checkout.

    b. Create a new in-shop transaction.

  3. Step 3

    Turn on Bluetooth & location services

    Turn on Bluetooth if prompted.

    Allow theCut to use your location if prompted.

  4. Step 4

    Pair your reader

    Once your card reader is detected, select “Pair.” The device will blink, and then the app will say “Reader connected.”

  5. Step 5

    Take payment

    Use one of these three options to take the payment:

    a. Insert the card

    b. Tap

    c. Swipe on the back

  6. Step 6

    Remove the card

    Once the transaction has been processed, the card reader will beep and theCut app will let you know when it’s okay to remove the card.

  7. Step 7

    Tip, sign & pay

    Pass the app to your client, have them enter their tip and signature, and then select “Pay.”
